Our Ladies held their annual Ladies Day on Saturday, May 5, 2012, with Marie Frith as the guest speaker. Marie brought an inspirational and timely message regarding "Strength through Adversity" using the Apostle Paul's encouraging statement in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
The day included songs, games, scripture readings, prayer and Marie's insightful comments.
We want to express are appreciation and thanks to Katelyn Combs for organizing and coordinating this year's Ladies Day.
Personal After Thoughts from the Day
Read Psalm 91 and Romas 8:35 What adversities are testing you today? What adversities have you experienced in the past?
Read Psalm 94:16, 22 and Romans 8:31 If God is our strength and refuge, standing on our side, how can any adversity stand against that defense? Are you allowing God to help and defend you?
Read Isaiah 41:10 and 30:20 How might God be trying to strengthen you through this adversity? What might He be teaching you?
Read Psalm 119:143 Just as God gave the Israelites manna in the wilderness, He is there to help us in our times of need. He knows what we need before we even have need, and provides that guidance in His Letter to us. What "manna" do you need from God's Word today?
Read Romans 8:37-39 Nothing can truly separate us from God's loving help. Is God using someone in your life today to show Himself and His love to you in times of adversity?
The Pearl A pearl is not created easily, but through suffering. When a small irritant, like a piece of sand, gets inside a clam, the clam secretes a fluid to coat the sand and protect itself from the irriation. Layer after layer coats the irritant until a beautiful pearl is formed. Without the irritant, the pearl would not be created. Suffering can strengthen a person's character; how might God be using adversity in your life today to create something even more beautiful in you?
Read James 1:2,4; Ephesians 5:20; Romans 8:28 and I Peter 4:12-16 We will have adversity in our lives. But perhaps it can be for good if we let God use it to strengthen us. Are you growing stronger and more beautiful through yesterday's and today's adversities?
